Charles and Linda Wells Judicial Process Teaching and Research Fund

This fund was established by Charles and Linda Wells in 2005 for the purpose of supporting activities and/or programs in the college that involve judges with the college’s teaching mission or otherwise contribute to students’ understanding of the judiciary and judicial process.

Charles was born March 4, 1939 in Orlando, FL. He earned a juris doctor from UF in 1964 and later served as a Justice on the Florida Supreme Court from 1994 to 2009 and as Chief Justice from 2000 to 2002.

Linda was born a little over a month after Charles on April 9, 1939. Linda earned her master’s degree from the University of Washington in 1962 and her juris doctor from George Washington University in 1970. Both Linda and Charles earned their bachelor’s degrees in 1961, and they were both active in student government. Linda graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UF. Charles became a member of Florida Blue Key and Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

The Wells have been honored by UF for their many contributions to their professions and their community. Linda was named the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ first recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Volunteer Award, and Charles was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Florida in 2001. The couple has three children.
