Franklin P. Flowers Endowed Research Fund
Support melanoma research in the division of Dermatology.
This fund was established by Mrs. Lucille Swanson in 2004 for the purpose of supporting melanoma research in the Division of Dermatology.
Dr. Franklin P. Flowers was born September 28, 1945. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University in 1967 and his medical degree from the University of Florida in 1971. He completed his internship at the University of Kentucky. He did his Dermatology residency training at The Ohio State University. He completed his MOHS Micrographic Surgery fellowship at the University of Alabama. Dr. Flowers is board certified in Dermatology, Dermatopathology, and is a Member of the American College of MOHS Micrographic Surgery. Dr. Flowers has been Chief of the Division of Dermatology at the University of Florida for 25 years.
Franklin and Dee have three children who are University of Florida Warrington College of Business Administration graduates: Kelly received her MAIB in 2008. She is currently in the Professional MBA program and in track to graduate December 2010. Matthew received his BS in 2002, MSM in 2004, and MBA in 2005. Michael received his MSM in 2006, MAIB in 2007, and MBA in 2008. Matthew’s wife, Monica, is also a UF graduate, earning her bachelor’s and master’s of science from the College of Nursing in 2006 and 2007 respectively.
