James F. McLean, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 2003 by family, friends and colleagues, this scholarship honors James F. McLean, Jr., a man who spent much of his life in the pursuit of architectural excellence and educating young architects. Born in Aberdeen, Maryland, McLean came to Florida in 1966 from Fort Knox, Kentucky. He attended UF, earning a bachelor’s degree in design in 1976 and a master’s degree in architecture in 1978.
Jim’s architectural career spanned more than 25 years in the Tampa/Saint Petersburg area. There he created award winning designs reflective of his unique style and creativity. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects and belonged to the Phi Kappa Phi National Honors Society. Jim served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. This dedicated husband, architect and avid boater passed away in 2003 at the age of 54. He was married to his loving wife, Christine, for 32 year
