Carol B. Currier Scholarship Fund

Support scholarships fro students in College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Carol B. Currier, M.D. established this fund through her estate. Born in Cleveland, OH, Currier moved to Gainesville from Athens, GA. She was a graduate of Allegheny College, Northwestern University and the University of Florida, and it was at UF that Currier completed her doctoral work in psychology in 1963.

Currier spent the majority of her life working as an educator and a counselor. She taught at UF, the University of Kentucky and the University of Georgia. Early in her career, she was an assistant director and counselor of students at Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore. She was also a member of the American Psychological Association, Southeastern Psychological Association and National Association of Women Deans, Administrators and Counselors. In 1983, Currier was listed as a Who’s Who of American Women. After retiring from the University of Georgia in 1987, she returned to Gainesville, where she became an active volunteer with the humane society and a Guardian ad Litem. This remarkable woman passed away in 2003 at the age of 7
