Brightest Students to Faculty
Purpose
Support scholarship and fellowship awards to students in the College of Nursing to pursue graduate study in the college.
History
This fund was established in 2002 through the generosity of Matthew and Dorothy Obinger.
Though the Obingers previously held no strong ties to the university, they were strong believers in education and elected to support nursing education. In 1999, Dorothy was quoted as saying, “I think nurses are the unsung heroes of the medical field. We wanted to support the education and work of these people, who are the true caregivers.
Dorothy passed away in 2003, followed by Matthew in 2008.
