Support operation of Center for European Studies.

The Center for European Studies was established in 2003 and is a federally recognized resource for European language and area studies training under the Title VI program. The Center directs, develops, and coordinates interdisciplinary teaching, research, and outreach on Europe and houses the first Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence for the study of the European Union (funded by the Commission of the European Union) in the United States.

The Center provides comprehensive multi-disciplinary undergraduate European studies curriculum that includes five languages and area studies programs (Czech, Greek, Hungarian, Polish, and Turkish), study abroad opportunities (Belgium, Czech Republic, and Poland), and two minor/certificate options (European Union Studies and East-Central European Studies). The Center also supports faculty and graduate student research in all areas of modern European studies through grants, scholarships, speakers’ series, and conferences.
