Florence W. Ruebush Endowment
GA: scholarships and/or assistantships for undergraduate and graduate students in College of Journalism and Communications.
Provided by W.E. Ruebush Foundation. Walton and Florence Ruebush, originally of Waterloo, Iowa, later of Treasure Island, established the Foundation in 1970 to provide journalism and athletic scholarships to college-bound high-school seniors. Walton was football team captain and member of the honorary athletic fraternity, Gamma Phi, at Illinois State University, where he earned his degree. Florrie Ann received a journalism degree from the University of Iowa and was a columnist and editor of the Davenport Democrat. Created in 2003, this is the Foundation’s first gift to higher education and recognizes Florrie Ann’s contributions to journalism. This fund was made possible by the support of Ruebush Foundation vice chair Michael Feinberg and board member Pamela Brickley, BSE 1978.
