Deb Richard Foundation Scholarship
Created in 1995 by the Deb Richard Foundation, this scholarship supports children with physical disabilities by empowering them to succeed academically. Deb Richard, a three-time NCAA All American, graduated from UF in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in advertising. In 1994, she won the Founders Cup Award from Golf Digest, and that same year she was inducted into UF’s Hall of Fame. In 1996, Richard received both the Sports Illustrated for Kids Good Sports Award and the Samaritan Award in acknowledgement of her selfless work and outstanding commitment to the Deb Richard Foundation. In 2004, Richard was honored with UF’s Distinguished Alumnus Award. In 2010, Richard will be honored with the NCAA Ailver Anniversary Award.
Richard began playing golf at the age of 11. She won the 1984 US Amateur and World Cup, and, while a student at UF, she won seven tournaments and finished runner-up at the 1985 NCAA Championship. Richard received the Broderick Award in 1985 as the outstanding female collegiate golfer. Richard won six times in a 19 year career on the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA). She is currently the President and Chairman of the Soaring with Eagles Foundation.
