Harold R. Stanley
Dorma J. Stanley helped to establish this endowment in loving memory of her husband, Dr. Harold R. Stanley. The fund provides support for the following: an award to a senior dental student showing the most promise for an academic career in oral pathology; an award to a renowned scientific speaker in the field of oral pathology; an oral pathology resident for research and travel expenses or the purchase of scientific equipment.
Harold was born June 26, 1923 in Salem, MA. He was an oral pathologist and dental consultant. He received the International Achievement Medal from the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity at its world meeting in Toronto, and was a retired professor emeritus of UF’s College of Dentistry. He held a dual appointment with the College of Medicine and served as chairman of the Department of Oral Medicine for 17 years. Harold had three children, Harold III, Christine and Cheryl. Harold III and Cheryl are both UF graduates.
Professor Stanley passed away November 10, 2001.
