William B. and M. Josephine McBride established this fund in 2003 to assist teachers in the public school systems with continuing their education. The fund aids practicing classroom teachers of the state of Florida in promotions, establishment and execution of off-campus programs.
William was born November 29, 1908 in German Township, OH. He earned a doctoral degree in education from the University of Florida in 1951. William was professor of music education and director of the Ohio State University Marching Band from 1942 to 1945. He then joined the dean’s staff in the UF College of Education and in 1965, became assistant dean. He remained assistant dean until his retirement in 1969. William was the national president of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America.
Josephine passed away in 2000 and William on November 26, 2002. The couple had one son, William.
