Prairieview Trust – Earl and Margo Powers Professorship
GA: (Amended) support professorship in College of Nursing with an emphasis on issues that affect aging.
Purpose
Support professorship in College of Nursing with an emphasis on issues that affect aging.
History
Gainesville-based Prairieview Trust established this fund in 2000 to support the first professorship to focus on excellence in geriatric care at the University of Florida College of Nursing. Endowing a professorship with an emphasis on aging is fitting, given the Trust’s interest in and support of the development of Oak Hammock, a UF-affiliated continuous care retirement community designed to develop a positive and healthy lifestyle for older adults. The support given by the Prairieview Trust enables the college to recruit a nursing faculty member and researcher who is expertly trained in these areas and can enhance the level of geriatric education and research in Florida and the nation.
