David S. Arthurs Family Public Radio Endowment
GA: support public radio service for Citrus County and West Central Florida through the auspices of the College of Journalism and Communications.
This fund was established in 2002 by David S. Arthurs, Sr., and his family for the purpose of supporting the public radio services for Citrus County and West Central Florida through the College of Journalism and Communications.
Arthurs was born April 6, 1930. A native of Atchison, KS, Arthurs came to Florida to work as a publishing supervisor of the John H. Perry newspapers in Delray and Palatka. In 1964, he purchased the Citrus County Chronicle. The company merged with Landmark Community Newspapers, Inc. in September 1980. Arthurs is now their former owner and publisher emeritus. He was instrumental in getting WJUF-FM Inverness on the air. He is the owner of Accent Travel Group and also owns a radio station.
