Glenda Ward Caro
This scholarship honors a Florida educator, Glenda Ward Caro, who served as a teacher and Escambia county education supervisor for over thirty years. Her son, Dr. Joseph C. Beckham, created the scholarship to honor Mrs. Caro.
Dr. Beckham, who is the Allan Tucker Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy at Florida State University, graduated from the University of Florida College of Law in 1969 and went on to earn his master’s and doctoral degrees in educational leadership from UF in the 1970s. He joined the faculty of Florida State University in 1980, and led the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from 1988 to 1993 and from 1999 to 2001.
