Grant: support scholarships for college students at NWSA in Miami; Business Ethics match requires business ethics course and community service.
The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation established this fund in 2001. It is a private, independent foundation, distinct from its newspaper enterprises, which fosters ideals of service to community, defending the rights of a free press and promoting the highest standards of journalistic excellence.
John and James Knight created the Knight Memorial Education Foundation in honor of their father, Charles Landon Knight, who often assisted financially challenged college students with their tuition. They memorialized him by continuing his valued charitable work on a larger scale. In 1950, the Knight Memorial Education Foundation Fund became part of the Knight Foundation. Today, the tradition of the family’s philanthropic history continues as they focus their attention on journalism and communities.
