On Friday, September 28, 2001, Sue Young, wife of UF president Charles E. Young, passed away in her sleep early in the morning after a long struggle with cancer.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the University of Florida Foundation for the Sue K. Young Scholarship.

Sue Young was truly a woman of distinction and her passing saddens us all. The establishment of this endowed scholarship will memorialize her unique personal attributes and contributions, leaving a legacy of opportunity which will benefit many generations of students at the University of Florida. We were fortunate for her involvement with UF and will indeed miss her spirit and leadership.
