Saliwanchik, Lloyd, and Saliwanchik Intellectual Property Fund
GA: support lectures, academic programs and internships that promote education amongst students, faculty and administrative areas of UF involved with intellectual property law.
This fund was established in 2001 by the law firm of Saliwanchik, Lloyd & Saliwanchik (SLS). The attorneys of SLS are proud of their close relationship with the University of Florida, including having many UF alumni amongst the SLS attorneys and staff, as well as two of the partners being Adjunct Professors at the Levin College of Law. SLS also has a long history of representing UF in a wide range of Intellectual Property matters. SLS is honored to support through its fund, lectures, academic programs, and internships that promote education among students, faculty, and administrative areas of the University of Florida involved with Intellectual Property law.
During its nearly 30 years of providing Intellectual Property law services, SLS has grown from a single attorney specializing in biotechnology and pharmaceutical patent law to 13 attorneys, three patent agents, and two technical specialists providing patent services in many technical fields. The wide range of technical backgrounds of the SLS professionals allows SLS to provide its clients with representation by an attorney or agent with detailed technical and legal knowledge relating to virtually any type of invention. In combination with the ability to communicate in seven different languages, state of the art communications equipment, and a worldwide network of foreign agents, SLS is also able to effectively pursue foreign patent and trademark protection in practically any country.
SLS is particularly active in patent matters involving inventions that pertain to pharmaceuticals, biotechnology (plants, animals, and microbes), medical and industrial instruments, organic chemistry, electronics, software, optics, semiconductor devices and applications, and materials science. SLS has extensive experience in filing and prosecuting patent applications and in representing clients whose applications have become involved in appellate proceedings. Services provided by SLS also include providing patentability, infringement, freedom-to-operate, and patent validity opinions; negotiating license and contract arrangements; as well as advising clients involved in the settlement of intellectual property disputes. SLS also has extensive experience in U.S. and foreign trademark registration.
The legal expertise of the firm’s attorneys, among several other awards and recognitions, is evidenced by, for example, the firm’s prestigious “AV” rating from Martindale Hubbell. “AV” ratings are determined by the bar and by the firm’s peers. It is the highest rating given to a firm, establishing that its expertise in the field has been extensively demonstrated. The firm’s list of sophisticated clients who have chosen SLS as their IP counsel and the length of said relationships (some more than twenty years) are further evidence of the legal expertise of the firm’s attorneys.
