This fund was established in memory of Harry Prystowsky to support a chair for female health care.
Harry Prystowsky was the University of Florida’s first chairman of obstetrics and gynecology. He was born in Charleston, SC, where he later received his medical degree from the Medical College at The Citadel. Prystowsky eventually moved from Gainesville to Surfside, FL.
He was a professor at Johns Hopkins University and dean of the College of Medicine at Pennsylvania State University. He was also a consultant for numerous government organizations, including the Office of Program Planning and Evaluation at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, and the Department of Health, Education and Welfare.
He received the UF Honorary Alumnus Award and an honorary doctorate from UF. Prystowsky and his wife, Rhalda, had three children. Dr. Prystowsky passed away in May 1999.
