Albert L. Holloway Graduate Research Endowment

This fund was established by Albert L. Holloway in 2000 to support the research expenses of graduate students in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Albert L. Holloway was born June 2, 1927, in Boynton, FL. In 1959, Holloway graduated from the University of Florida with high honors and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. In 1962, he received his master’s degree, also at UF, in engineering. By 1964, Holloway had substantially completed his doctoral dissertation before he decided to leave UF to become Director of Research and Development for the Astrotechnology Division of Page Communications Engineers.

In 1966, Holloway became president of Alto Systems Engineering and in 1971 he became president of ALH Associates. He held the position until ALH was bought out by IBM in 1974. Holloway then became a microwave consultant for such companies as Lockheed, Magnavox, IBM and Transco Products. In 1990, Holloway officially completed his doctorate, one year before he was named a Distinguished UF Alumnus. Holloway built his companies around the ideas he researched in his doctoral dissertation.

During his lifetime, Holloway held three patents in microwave technology and was a member of Tau Beta Pi and Pi Mu Epsilon, honorary societies for engineering and mathematics respectively.

Holloway passed away September 24, 1999 in West Palm Beach, FL.
