Frank P. May
This fund was established in honor of Frank Pierce May III in 1998 for the purpose of supporting teaching and programs in the Unit Operations Laboratory in the Department of Chemical Engineering in the College of Engineering.
May was born October 2, 1920 in Quincy, FL. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 1948, a master’s degree in 1958 and a doctorate in 1961, all from the University of Florida.
From 1948-55, May practiced chemical engineering. Then, from 1955-93 he taught chemical engineering at UF. He also served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII.
Dr. May passed away September 18, 1996 at Crescent Beach, FL. He was survived by his wife, Mary Shaw, and their three children and five grandchildren.
