Jane Adams Edmonds Ph.D. Endowed Fellowship
GA (Amended): Support a PhD. Fellowship for a graduate student in the College of Health and Human Performance who is a US citizen or an individual legally entitled to permanently reside within the US; preference will be given to a student in the Exercise/Sports Science field. Should no Exercise/Sports Science student be available, the fund will be used at the discretion of the Dean to support another PhD. Candidate. (See Amended/Restated GA)

Jane Adams Edmonds earned her master’s degree in physical education and health from the University of Florida in 1958. While moving around the world to various Army assignments with her husband, Maj. Gen. Maurice Edmonds, she continued to teach at every educational level from elementary school to college while at the same time raising their two sons, Neal and Mark. Her love for teaching and teachers continues.
Maury Edmonds created this scholarship in his wife’s honor noting, “with love by your family in recognition of your faithful devotion to them and your love for the University of Florida.” He is also a distinguished alumnus of UF, earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education in 1953. Maury is a decorated veteran of the Vietnam conflict and served for 35 years in the U.S. Army. Jane and Maury Edmonds now live in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., where they enjoy retirement and their grandchildren.
