James Lewis Talbert Lectureship in Pediatric Surgery
Unrestricted funds for department.
In 1967, the Division of Pediatric Surgery was established in the University of Florida College of Medicine. Since that time, UF Professor Emeritus Dr. James L. Talbert, founding division chief, has overseen the expansion and development of the division as it has grown to become an international leader in cutting edge pediatric care and research.
During his tenure at UF, Dr. Talbert developed innovative surgical techniques for the repair of congenital airway lesions and improved systems of care for injured children and children with cancer. Even though he has retired, he continues to mentor and encourage faculty and students to strive for the same excellence in teaching and research that he achieved during his long and distinguished career.
To honor Dr. Talbert’s vital contributions to the field of pediatric surgery and the expertise he shared with so many faculty and students over the years, the Division of Pediatric Surgery established this lectureship program. This program allows the division to invite the very best pediatric surgeons from around the world to share their knowledge about the most advanced surgical procedures for children with UF residents and faculty.
