This fund was established in 1998 by Charles and Teresa Bedford to support teaching, research and programs in the Division of Urology in the College of Medicine.
Charles Bedford was born November 3, 1929 in Baltimore, MD. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1951 from the University of Florida.
Charles started working for General Electric in 1951. By the time he retired 37 years later, he was general manager of the Switchgear Business Department of General Electric Co. During his time at GE, Charles designed and installed turbines for the U.S. Navy.
Teresa earned her bachelor’s degree in education in 1952 from the University of Florida. She and Charles had three sons, Charles, Kenneth and John, who graduated from the UF College of Engineering in 1991. Charles, Sr. passed away in September 2006.
