Established by Paul Tarrant in memory of his beloved wives, Viola and Marian to support a graduate fellowship in Organic Chemistry.
Paul graduated from Duke University and Sanford College and was the first chairman of the fluorine division of the American Chemical Society. In 1966, he received the Florida Award of the Florida Section of the American Chemical Society, which recognizes leadership and contributions toward the advancement of the profession of chemistry. He retired in 1980 after 34 years as professor of chemistry at the University of Florida.
