James Lawrence Fly Fund
Support graduate student in Telecommunications.
Provided by Mickie Edwardson, a distinguished service professor emerita of the College, and her late husband John, professor emeritus of agronomy. This fund was established in recognition of the contributions of James Lawrence Fly, Federal Communications Commission Chairman (1939-1944), who established network regulations that provided more choices in programming and opinions, partly by forbidding any network from affiliating with more than one station in a community. Fly also insisted on improved television picture and sound. He was the first to set aside FM channels for education.
