This fund honoring Grace Hambrick Osborn provides a professorship in the teaching of medical ethics and compassionate human care of patients, with an emphasis on patients with chronic illnesses such as HIV and AIDS.
Born in Brooksville, MS, Osborn attended Brenau College in Gainesville, GA, before transferring to the University of Alabama, where she met her future husband. She received a bachelor’s degree in home economics and married in 1939. The Osborns moved to Jacksonville in 1960 when the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad moved its general offices there. Her husband, a railroad lawyer, Prime F. Osborn III, retired as chairman of CSX Corporation in 1982 and passed away in 1986. Grace Osborn was active in civil affairs in Jacksonville for four decades. She and her husband had two children. Grace passed away on Feb. 21, 2003, at age 84.
