Irving Cypen
The Honorable Irving Cypen, who earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1940 and a doctorate with high honors in 1943 from the University of Florida, established this professorship. A valuable member of the justice system in Florida, Cypen was an assistant city attorney for Miami Beach from 1949 to 1953. Later, he served as municipal judge for the city and then as judge in the 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida from 1958 to 1963. He was president and board member of the Florida Supreme Court Historical Society in 1991.
Cypen is a member of the American Bar Association, The Florida Bar, the American Judicature Society and the U.S. Supreme Court Historical Society. He is the founding partner of the law firm Cypen & Cypen of Miami Beach.
