Leavenworth/McClaskey Undergraduate Scholarship Fund

Richard S. Leavenworth, professor emeritus of industrial and systems engineering at UF, has served in many positions within the college since he first came to the university in 1966. He served as acting chairman of the department, assistant dean for planning and analysis of the college and was a member of the university senate. In addition to service on numerous university committees, he chaired the College of Engineering Committee on the Doctor of Engineering Degree. His numerous awards include being named Outstanding Professor in the College of Engineering by the Inter-Fraternity Council, was a semi-finalist for the Standard Oil Good Teaching Award and won the Quality Control and Reliability Engineering Division Award of Excellence.

Dr. Leavenworth has published and developed a number of short courses for in-plant training. He and David J. McClaskey developed and presented a short course series in the early 1990s. The proceeds of those courses were used to create the Leavenworth/McClaskey endowed undergraduate scholarship.

David J. McClaskey was a student of Dr. Leavenworth’s who graduated in 1972 from the industrial engineering program. He works in quality control management for the Eastman Kodak Compan
