Jean L. Bennett Scholarship

Dr. Jean Lester Bennett was the first female to graduate from the UF College of Medicine. She has served as president of the medical staff of Morton F. Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Fla., where she has practiced pediatrics for 32 years. Bennett received the UF Distinguished Alumnus award in 1980, and in 1984 the American Academy of Pediatrics chose her as the pediatrician of the year for the state of Florida. In 1994, Bennett was added to the UF Wall of Fame, which honors alumni who have made noteworthy contributions to medicine, education, government and the community.
