Robert L. Batey, M.D. Cardiology Scholarship Fund

Fund Purpose
GA: support educational activities of students attending College and specializing in cardiology.

Robert L. Batey

This fund was established by the estate of Warner J. Turner, a grateful patient of Dr. Batey’s, and matched by Dr. Batey’s colleagues and practice partners.

Had it not been for the existence of a special scholarship fund at UF, Batey himself would not have been able to attend college and become the dedicated, personable scientist and medical doctor that he was. He subsequently earned both of his degrees from UF, a B.S. in chemistry in 1962 and M.D. in 1966. Dr. Batey was greatly influenced by Dr. Jape Taylor, a professor and M.D. at UF, to pursue cardiology and then became relentless in his pursuit to improve the human condition.

Robert Batey touched the lives of all who met him. He passed away unexpectedly in 1995. This endowed scholarship enables worthy students experiencing financial conditions similar to Dr. Batey’s an opportunity to pursue their dream of becoming a physician.
