Thomas O. Hunter Scholarship Endowment
GA (Amended): Support undergraduate/graduate students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership ability, and are working in and/or participating in the activities of the Engineering Leadership Institute at the University of Florida College of Engineering; preference shall be given to students with a demonstrated financial need.
Thomas O. Hunter
Dr. Thomas O. Hunter is President of Sandia National Laboratories operated by the Lockheed Martin Corporation. Hunter graduated from the College of Engineering in 1966 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and has been very involved as an alumnus ever since. As a member of the College of Engineering Advisory Council, he served on the “It’s Performance That Counts” campaign steering committee. The University awarded the prestigious Distinguished Alumnus Award to Hunter in 2001 for his dedication and love of his alma mater. Hunter is a native of Florida. He grew up in Interlachen, a town in Putnam County, FL.
Hunter’s endowment was created in 1998 to support students attending the College of Engineering.
