Joseph Field

Established by family and friends of the late Joseph S. Field Jr., a pioneer in Florida radio broadcasting.

In 1947, Joseph S. Field brought rock ‘n ‘roll to Palm Beach with radio station WIRK-AM. He later added WIRK-FM, which adopted a country format in 1973. During the three decades that he owned and operated these and other radio stations in Florida, Field served as two time president of the Florida Association of Broadcasters. He also served as a board member of the National Association of Broadcasters and was active with the local and state Advertising Federation. Field passed away in 1994 at age 78.
