Byron D. Spangler Endowed Professorship in Civil Engineering
Support professorship in Civil Engineering.
This fund honors Byron D. Spangler, professor emeritus in civil engineering at the University of Florida. Spangler earned his bachelor’s degree in 1947 and his master’s degree in 1950 from UF. He also worked for the university from 1949 until shortly before his death in 1995. Spangler was appointed to the State Board of Professional Engineers and received an award “for outstanding service to the engineering profession” from the Florida Engineering Society in 1982. Byron and his wife, Mildred, had one son, Donald, who received his bachelor’s degree from UF in 1968.
