Roy and Sadie Howard were longtime U.S. customs agents, working in the Tampa and Miami areas. The Howards were familiar with UF through Sadie’s sister, Edith Pitts, who served as executive secretary for three UF presidents. Sadie Howard created the Roy A. Howard Scholarship Fund for Latin American Studies in memory of her beloved husband.
