Colonel Glenn Farris
Col. Glenn A. Farris, a graduate of West Point (1931) served in the U.S. Army from 1931-61, including service in Puerto Rico, World War II and the Korean Conflict. After retiring from his final post as Professor of Military Science at the University of Florida, he returned to school and received a master’s degree in education from the university (1962). He then briefly taught French at the university prior to being offered the job of Foreign Student Advisor, remaining in this position for 10 years. He retired from his job as Dean of International Student Affairs in 1973. In this capacity, he met students from many countries and is best remembered for his work on behalf of Cuban students who were entering the university in numbers during his tenure. Col. Farris passed away in 2001 at the age of 9
