Frank A. Duckworth

Frank A. Duckworth, who pledged the first endowed eminent scholar chair in the College of Pharmacy, received a degree in pharmacy from the University of Florida in 1942. After serving with the Army Air Corps during World War II, he earned a juris doctor from UF in 1948. He also taught in the College of Pharmacy and was awarded the first Distinguished Alumnus Award for the College of Pharmacy in 1986. In 1954, he earned a master’s degree in law from New York University, after which he began a distinguished career with Pfizer Inc. The corporate secretary, vice president and general counsel for Pfizer, Duckworth later served as the president of the Food and Drug Law Institute. He also received the UF Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1993. Duckworth and his wife of 55 years, Katherine Alexander Duckworth, had two children. He passed away on July 26, 2002, at age 80.
