GA: support professorship in sports medicine in Dept of Orthopaedics.

Established in 1992 by the Huizenga Family Foundation, this fund provides professorships in sports medicine in the Department of Orthopaedics. H. Wayne Huizenga has a long history of strong leadership and an unparalleled ability to build businesses. Huizenga is chairman of AutoNation Inc., Extended Stay America, Republic Services Inc. and Huizenga Holdings Inc. A self-made man who turned his first enterprise into a multi-million dollar business, Huizenga was vice chairman of the board of Viacom Inc. and chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Blockbuster Entertainment Corp. He directed Blockbuster into a position of world leadership in its industry and sold it to Viacom in 1994.

Huizenga is the owner of the National Football League’s Miami Dolphins and Pro Player Stadium. He was awarded the franchise for the Florida Marlins Major League Baseball team, the state’s first, and the National Hockey League’s Florida Panthers.
