Support scholarship for high academic achievement and financial need; preference to resident of Walton, Okaloosa, Holmes or Washington Counties.
Clyde B. Wells
Judge Clyde B. Wells was a native of Washington County, Fla. He graduated from Chipola Junior College, Florida State University and the University of Florida College of Law. First establishing a private law practice in DeFuniak Springs and Chipley, Fla., he then became an assistant state attorney for the 1st Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. The citizens of the 1st Judicial Circuit elected him to a circuit judge seat in 1972, where he served until his death in a light plane crash in 1990 at the age of 57. Wells was a veteran of the Korean War, avid hunter and member of the First Methodist Church and Lions Club in DeFuniak Springs where he and his wife, Esteena “Teena,” resided for 27 years and raised their children, Judge Kelvin Clyde Wells and Kelly Beth Horton.
