Barry M. Berish, former chairman of Jim Beam Brands Worldwide Inc., graduated cum laude from UF with a bachelor’s degree in advertising and marketing. Berish joined JBB in 1957 as an assistant advertising manager. Three years later, he was named advertising director. In 1968, he was elected vice president and in 1980 became chief operating officer. Jim Beam Brands saw consistent growth under Berish, who retired in 1997, making JBB Worldwide Inc. the largest U.S.-owned distilled spirits company.
