Gold Family Scholarship
GA (amended): support need-based scholarship for medical students attending UF College of Medicine.
The Gold Family Scholarship is available to medical students attending the UF College of Medicine who demonstrate academic achievement and a commitment to making meaningful contributions to a pluralistic society.
Dr. Mark S. Gold is a 1975 honors graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine. He is the immediate Past-Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and an Eminent Scholar Emeritus, and served as the Dizney Eminent Scholar and Distinguished Professor during his 25-year tenure in the Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Gold is an internationally recognized leader in psychiatry, addiction medicine, and translational research . Prior to becoming Department Chair, he was a Distinguished Service Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry, Neuroscience, Anesthesiology, and Community Health & Family Medicine at the College of Medicine. Dr. Gold has received the American Psychiatric Association’s Foundation Fund Award and Prize, the Annual DARE Lifetime Achievement Award, the PATH Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award, and the American Society of Addiction Medicine McGovern Lifetime Achievement Award for his landmark contributions to the field of Addiction Medicine. Janice R. Gold, wife of Dr. Gold, graduated from UF in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in education. The Golds established this endowment to facilitate the academic careers of the underprivileged and underrepresented.
