W. W. Massey, Sr. Presidential Scholarship Fund
Support scholarships for worthy students at UF to achieve their goals and objectives in the education and business environment.
William Walter “Bill” Massey Sr. entered the automobile business in the late 1920s. He built a company with 24 dealerships across the southeastern United States, organized a finance, casualty insurance and two life insurance companies to finance and insure automobile sales. Bill Massey’s companies were known by the Chrysler Corp. as “The Hub of an Empire” and became the biggest chain dealership Chrysler has ever had.
Bill Massey built his business through his philosophy of investing in people. He hired good people with a willingness to work and gave people without experience in the car business a chance to prove themselves. He believed that hard work and the love and support of family are the essential ingredients for a successful life as well as a successful business.
In accordance with Mr. Massey’s philosophy, awards will be given to students who show the desire to work diligently in their chosen area of study. Preference will be given to National Merit and Achievement Scholars or to students who qualify for the honors program.
This scholarship was established by UF alumni and volunteers Herb Yardley, Dayton Andrews and Bob Wilson in honor of their mentor and business partne
