William Walter “Bill” Massey Sr. entered the automobile business in the late 1920s. He built a company with 24 dealerships across the southeastern United States, organized a finance, casualty insurance and two life insurance companies to finance and insure automobile sales. Bill Massey’s companies were known by the Chrysler Corp. as “The Hub of an Empire” and became the biggest chain dealership Chrysler has ever had.

Bill Massey built his business through his philosophy of investing in people. In accordance with Mr. Massey’s philosophy, awards will be given to students who show the desire to work diligently in their chosen area of study. Preference will be given to National Merit and Achievement Scholars or to students who qualify for the honors program.
