Irving Cypen was an important and valuable member of the justice system in the state of Florida. He was an assistant city attorney for Miami Beach from 1949 to 1953. Later, he served as municipal judge for the city and then as judge in the 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida from 1958 to 1963. He was president and board member of the Florida Supreme Court Historical Society in 1991. Cypen held membership in the American Bar Association, The Florida Bar, the American Judicature Society and the U.S. Supreme Court Historical Society. He was the founding partner of the law firm Cypen and Cypen of Miami Beach. In the 1940s, he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and his law degree from UF with high honors.
