D.W. Ramsaur
David W. Ramsaur was well respected by his peers in the pharmacy industry and the business community throughout the South. He returned to his hometown of Palatka, Fla., after graduating from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science in 1902. In 1907, he was appointed to the Board of Pharmacy in Florida and served as secretary until 1916. He then resigned to pursue the pharmacy business full time.
In 1913, he urged the Florida Pharmacy Association to support a resolution to establish a school of pharmacy at one of the state’s institutions of higher education. His efforts were successful 10 years later when the UF College of Pharmacy opened its doors to the first class of students.
His daughter, Genevieve Buice, created this scholarship in her father’s memory, and the endowment is supported with additional funding from the family.
