J. Michael Cook
J. Michael Cook is the retired chairman and chief executive officer of Deloitte and is known as a strong and effective spokesperson on tough professional issues, often testifying before Congress about them.
Cook earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Florida in 1964. He has written and spoken extensively on international accounting standards, the globalization of business, auditor independence, corporate governance, gender equality in the workplace and tort and securities law reform. Cook led the effort to enact the Private Securities Litigation Act of 1995 and the Uniform Standards legislation in 1998. Once enacted, this legislation significantly changed standards for business litigation.
