John B. Higdon, who earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Florida in 1959, established this fund. President of the Higdon Investment Company, Higdon took his family grocery business from a small enterprise into a major force in the grocery distribution business. A recipient of the UF Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1993, Higdon served on the UF Business Council Advisory Board. He is also former chairman of the UF Foundation Board of Directors. He and his wife, Emily, have three children, who all graduated from UF.
