The JCPenney Retailing Fund was established in 1988 to support programs and activities of the David F. Miller Center for Retailing Education and Research at the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business. The Fund provides $10,000 per year in student scholarships, which are awarded to students at the University’s fall board meeting each year.

Founded in 1902 as the Golden Rule store by James Cash Penney, today JCPenney is one of America’s leading retailers, operating over 1,100 department stores throughout the United States and Puerto Rico, as well as one of the largest apparel and home furnishing sites on the Internet, jcp.com, and the nation’s largest general merchandise catalog business. JCPenney’s commitment to serving its customers with style and quality at compelling prices has led the Company through many transformations over the years. Through more than 100 years of history, the Company has stayed true to its Golden Rule beginnings, with a continued commitment to care for the communities where it does business and operate in an ethical and responsible manner. Today these commitments live on in the Company’s dedication to make “Every Day Matters” for all its associates, customers and shareholders.
