Ray Graves
This scholarship honors former UF football coach Ray Graves. In 1960, Graves took a pay cut to leave his post as assistant coach at Georgia Tech and come to UF. During his nine years as a coach, Graves led his team to 70 victories- the most of any Gator coach at that time. Under Graves’ leadership, quarterback Steve Spurrier came to Florida from Johnson City, Tenn., and became the first player in UF history to win the Heisman Trophy.
