C. and I. Polopolus Lecture Series in Greek Studies

Established in 1986 in honor of Constantine and Irene Polopolus, this fund was created to support an annual lecture through the Center for Greek Studies. This lecture series has been established to provide intellectual stimulus for students, faculty and citizens regarding the role and impact of Hellenic thought, culture, civilization, institutions, literature and science upon Western Civilization.

This lecture series serves to honor not only Constantine and Irene Gatsos Polopolus, but also thousands of other Greek immigrants to the United States who recognized the contribution of Hellenic culture and civilization as an integral core of American society.

Constantine and Irene Polopolus are the parents of Dr. Leonidas Polopolus, co-founder and co-director emeritus of the University of Florida’s Center for Greek Studies.
