Support annual scholarships for College of Education; recipient to be selected by committee of the College based on demonstrated scholastic and leadership ability, development of skill in teaching as a lifetime profession, and need.
G. Ballard Simmons
Dr. G. Ballard Simmons served the UF College of Education for 34 years. His roles in the UF community included student, graduate assistant, professor, assistant dean, director of P.K. Yonge Laboratory School and acting dean of the College of Education.
In 1962, Simmons was appointed dean at Florida Atlantic University and served in that position for five years until his retirement at age 70. Upon his death in 1986, family and friends established the G. Ballard Simmons Memorial Scholarship at UF so that his legacy of enthusiastic and effective leadership in education would live o
