E. Porter Horne Memorial Scholarship
GA: support annual scholarship to graduate student with interest in sensory processes, perception, and/or cognitive psychology.
Established by Dr. Betty Horne in memory of her husband, Dr. E. Porter Horne, this award is given annually by the department of psychology to a graduate student with an interest in sensory processes, perception and/or cognitive psychology–Professor Horne’s areas of interest. Dr. E. Porter Horne was a member of the psychology faculty at UF. Dr. Betty Horne earned a doctorate degree in psychology from the University of Iowa and retired after 25 years of work with the Sunland Training Center (now Tacachale) in Gainesville, Fla. She held several positions at Tacachale, including head of the psychology department and director of programs and services. A member of Grace Presbyterian Church, she volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and the Red Cross. She passed away on February 9, 200
